Membership (Retired)
Stay part of the community, at a reduced rate.
Membership of IALM need not end when your career does. Our Retired Membership grade allows long-standing professional members who have retired from active work to remain part of the Institute and its community — keeping their connection, their recognition, and their hard-earned standing in the field.
Retired Members continue to enjoy the benefits of membership and retain the right to use their post-nominals, with the option to describe themselves as a Retired Associate, Member or Fellow as appropriate. It is our way of recognising a lifetime of contribution, and of keeping experienced voices within our community for as long as they wish to remain.
This grade is right for you if you are:
An existing Associate Member, Full Member or Fellow who has retired from active professional work
Aged 65 or over (or retired earlier on grounds such as ill health)
Keen to maintain your connection with the Institute and your professional recognition
Eligibility
Open to existing members at Associate, Full Member or Fellow grade who have retired from active work, are aged 65 or over (with discretion for those who have retired earlier, for example on health grounds), and have been a member of the Institute for at least five years.
Post-Nominal
You retain the post-nominal of your grade (AIALM, MIALM or FIALM), and may describe yourself as a Retired Associate, Member or Fellow of the Institute.
Annual Subscription
£45 per year (free from age 75)
How to Apply
If you are an existing member approaching or entering retirement, simply contact us to apply for the Retired grade, and we will move you to the reduced rate from your next renewal.
