Membership Grades

Associate Membership (AIALM)

Recognition for those building their practice in the field.

Associate Membership is the first of our professional grades, and the first to carry an IALM post-nominal. It is designed for early-career educators, tutors, coaches and other professionals who have begun to apply the principles of learning science and metacognition in their work.

Becoming an Associate Member signifies a real and growing commitment — both to your own professional development and to the Institute's mission. As an Associate Member, you gain the right to use the post-nominal AIALM, alongside full access to our resources, professional development and community, marking your place as a recognised professional within the field.

This grade is right for you if you are:

An early-career educator, tutor, coach or training professional

Beginning to apply advanced learning methodologies and metacognition in your practice

Ready to gain professional recognition and demonstrate your commitment to the field

Eligibility

Applicants will normally hold a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification, together with at least one year of professional experience in an educational, coaching or training role applying the principles of learning science or metacognition.
