Fellowship (FIALM)
Our highest individual grade, recognising distinction in the field.
Fellowship is the most senior individual grade of membership within IALM. It is reserved for senior leaders, distinguished academics, and individuals who have made a substantial and sustained contribution to the advancement of learning and metacognition. To be a Fellow is to be recognised among the most experienced and accomplished members of our community.
Fellows hold the right to use the post-nominal FIALM — a mark of distinction that reflects a career of significant achievement and influence in the field. As the Institute grows, our Fellows will play a particularly valuable role: lending their expertise, standing and judgement to the work of IALM, and helping to shape and champion the advancement of learning.
This grade is right for you if you are:
A senior leader, distinguished academic, or recognised expert in your field
Someone who has made a substantial and sustained contribution to learning science or metacognition
Able to demonstrate a distinguished career and significant impact on research, practice or educational policy
Eligibility
Fellowship recognises a distinguished career, normally reflecting at least eight years of senior professional experience. Applicants will have made substantial and recognised contributions to the advancement of learning science or metacognition — evidenced, for example, by publications, senior leadership roles, or significant impact on educational practice. Fellowship is awarded by invitation, or through a rigorous application process demonstrating exceptional merit.

How to Apply
Fellowship may be conferred by invitation, or applied for directly. Applicants should complete our online application form and provide full supporting evidence of their eligibility, including a CV and details of their contributions to the field.
For those who wish to make a lasting commitment, Life Fellowship offers the opportunity to become a Fellow for life through a single, one-off payment, with no further annual subscriptions to pay. Please contact us to discuss this option.
